Postby fishfan5 » Tue Nov 19, 2013 5:32 pm

My Senegal Hawkeye just passed away. :( The house is way to quiet now, any suggestions to what bird i should get that has a similar size? Thanks.

I'm sorry about your loss of Hawkeye.
I love Senegals, I have 2, so why not get another Sennie? If it reminds you too much of your deceased parrot you should really consider a Meyer's parrot. A GCC is another option; they are a bit smaller and less stocky than poicephalus but they are really cuddly and sweet.

I think hybrids (especially the Camelot macaw and Catalina) are beautiful but they mess with the gene pool and for me,

Sorry to hear about Hawkeye :(.

Pionus are said to be quite quiet but friendly, there are several types blue headed are said to be the most engaging and max are said to be the calmest. They're almost twice the size of a Senegal though. I believe ringnecks are about the same size as a senegal but they're fairly loud.

You could look for a rescue and see if one adopts you.
