Rare and Uncommon Parrots

Postby catisue22 » Mon Dec 16, 2013 2:50 am

Hello! I was wondering if any of you out there have rare or uncommon parrots. A greater vasa, a palm cockatoo, a black lory, a golden conure, etc. I love parrots and I just thought this would be a fun topic. I saw a post similar to this, but its older.

And if you don't have rare or uncommon parrots, how many do you have? One? Three? Ten?

I own three parrots ( :gray: :monk: :pied: ) and I'm taking care of two others ( :greycockatiel: :greycockatiel: ) A family friend is trying to find work in Louisiana and I've been taking care of them for about two months. None of them are really uncommon, but they are wonderful and I love them! :)

So what about you? What birds do you have and how many? Post pictures if you wish!

He's adorable! :) You're lucky you can get a harness on him. I've been trying with mine, but they haven't gotten used to it.

Lots of parrots (9 tiels, 11 budgies, 3 conures, 2 grays, 2 cockatoos, 6 zons, 2 senegals, 1 jardine) but nothing unusual.

I think unusual will depend on where you live. Here in Western Australia Caiques are unusual and rare.
I would have had one, but was mucked around by the bird shop. As fate would have it, we ended up with a terrific 14 week old Sun Conure :)

Actually, thinking about it, I do have an unusual one but it's not the species, it's the mutation, I have an olive (two dark factors) mottled budgie hen.

Ahaha what a cute cowbird! And no, definitely not luck that he is harness trained. ;)
