Ha, Pajarita, I am glad I gave you a chuckle over the age question!

But in addition to human age discrimination, I know from personal experience that keeping a puppy, or even a dog 4 years and younger with an older dog does not always make for 'peace in our time.' The younger dog is often too full of too much energy, too quick to get treats, too eager to play when the older dog would rather sunbathe and nap.

That's why I wanted to make sure that it wouldn't be 'unfair' to the older bird (or, perhaps, to the younger one) to have parrots of different ages.

I am happy to hear from you that parrots do not have such issues.

No, they don't. And this is because, when birds are healthy, you don't even notice that they are old. They don't slow down, or get grey or white feathers or stop breeding or anything. The only thing that changes is that their legs get a bit scaly...

With dogs and cats is different because they age like people do but you can make it work. I have 1 ancient, ancient dog (15 years old with an average lifespan of 8!), 3 old (one 15 or 16 and two 14-15), 1 getting there (9-10 years old) and 2 young (one just turned 2 in February and the other between 2 and 3 -we don't know for sure most of their true ages because they are all rescues) and they get along just fine but that's because we adopted a second young one so the first one would have somebody to play with.
