Please DO NOT put a Budgie and and Senegal together, I knew a lady who had them in seperate cages and would let them out to play together. One day for some unknown reason, the Senegal grabbed the Budgie's upper maniable and RIPPED it off. The Budgie had to be taken to the vets, the bill was alot and the Budgie had to eat food by using it's lower maniable as a shovel. I never found out whether the Budgie's beak ever re-grew but I was assured that the lady did not intend to let the Budgie and Senegal play together any more.

If you have your heart set on a bigger bird go for a cockatiel or (if you really want something much bigger) go for a Pionus (they are bigger than Senegals but tend to be more re-known for their calm, quiet and non-aggressive atttudes).

That said though, I really don't think you should let your budgie play with anything larger than a cockatiel unless it is a softbill such as a pigeon- If you want my oppinion on that, Pigeons make great pets, they're calm, you can put them on a parrot harness without them destroying it, they're cheap to buy and easy to look after and they can't really harm your budgie as their beaks are only designed to peck and not to bite.

It good that you're asking though, I currently have Senegal and am looking for/deciding on a larger bird. Take your time deciding, remember, if the bird is larger than a Cockatiel and not a soft bill, you need to understand that this bird will be for you to socialize with, not your Budgie.

Hope that helped.
