Hey!

Postby jbsmomto1 » Sun Feb 14, 2010 5:48 pm

yesterday I was supposed to go pick up some quakers to finish handfeeding for a lady that had suddenly taken ill, needed surgery and treatments after and such. Anyway just as we were about to go and pick up the babies she calls me and says that another friend had taken them and that she had none left for me.

Oh well, it wasn't meant to be I guess. Anyway a friend and I decided to go to a small town (St Clements if you are from ontario you might know it). Mark and Lisa breed birds and have a store there called exotic wings n things. It's an awesome store bird babies of just about every species you can imagine, I decided I would get a quaker from them, it would be weaned and ready to be a big bird.

So anyway we get there and as soon as I went into the bird room, to my left is a cage with baby birds in it, this one baby locked it's eyes on me and followed me around the room, I seriously had never seen a bird crank their neck that high. I wasn't there for her I was there for a quaker, this bird was not even from the same continent. However, I felt bad for it, it seemed to want my attention, so I opened up it's cage and it leaped out and attached itself to me, it would not get off me for anything. The store keppers tried to remove her but her nails would just dig in harder. Finally got her free and put her back in her cage...and immediatly baby started to holler and again watch every move I made......

I have always picked my birds, never had I been picked, but I had been...so I didn't come home with a quaker after all, but this wee thing instead. I have name her Kia (kye ah).

There is just soemthing about those baby eyes.....

So now we have Kitty and Kia, I hope that they can at least become friends, they don't have to love each other but if this could happen everyday I would be thrilled...

So while I never intended on a sennie, I am thrilled to have Kia here, she kinda quacks a little bit and very quietly, it's quite cute.

I tried posting my pics directly but it chopped off their heads!

Hey, if it's any consolation, my :senegal: picked me also!

I had 2 :cockatiel: that I rescued and I wasn't even in the market for another bird. Yet, everytime I went into one pet store this :senegal: would rush to the closest bars of the cage to be near me. He didn't do this with other humans! For 2 months, I'd visit this store and it was the same every time!
To top it off, I couldn't get this bird out of my mind, so I finally bought him.

Tamber has been with us now 9 months. He is 1-1/2 years old. I think they just know where they want to be. :D

Congratulations on your new :senegal: !
