The bird would not show any problems within 6 months and probably not even within 6 years. It's when they get older that happens but you must have seen all the posts about toe tapping, wing flicking, liver disease, high cholesterol, screaming and plucking on ekkies. They are very common. The difference with cockatoos is that they have been in the market for many, many years while ekkies are relatively new (they've only bred them in USA for the last 20 years or so) and the first ones to breed were all wild-caught so most of the captive-bred, non first generation offspring of wild-caught ekkies out there are still young (and they still show more problems than other species!). And they also tend to die young so it's not like you are always reading about a 25, 30 or 35 year old captive-bred ekkie having issues like you do with toos.
