Hahns or pionus????

Postby Polly-anna97 » Tue Jul 29, 2014 1:37 pm

Hi there, I'd really like to hear from hahns and pionus owners. Good stuff, bad stuff. I'm having a tough time making a decision. I had a hahns myself a long time ago and she was absolutely amazing in every way. All I seem to read about them online is grim at best, horrific at worst.

I've read great things about pionus, but also a lot of bad too.I love the size of them, the sound of their sweet, calm un needy nature, and am utterly intrigued as to their famous smell!

I would really love to hear as much as possible from people with first hand experience of these chaps.

Thank you!

I answered in introductions, just so you know for future reference you will get the same answers by posting in one place as you will by posting the same questions in more places. the people here are pretty good that way. Good luck.

Thanks Wolf, I thought that maybe people would be put off by the sheer volume of text in my post, and wouldn't bother, so I thought I'd post something more palatable! Thanks for the pointers though.
I'm looking into your suggestion. I did just try to adopt a couple of pionus, but found out at the final stage that they were wrong for me. I don't believe the charity I belong to organise meetings as a procedure, which does seem kind of odd, and I only just managed to get to speak with the birds safe house by really pushing- the rehoming officer was extremely helpful though.
I am taking your advice on board. Thank you.

Oh no, it isn't a problem, we love to hear all about peoples birds, which ones they have, which ones they want or are thinking about and if they are asking a question as much background information as we can get. The one thing that you will find here is that it is really all about the birds. We care about the other person's birds about as much as we care about our own birds. So relax and enjoy.
You should see some of my ravings.
