introducing two gcc

Postby marie83 » Wed Jul 30, 2014 2:46 pm

I may have the opportunity to give a gcc a home, someones passed on my number to someone who feels the female gcc is too needy and they cant give her enough attention, im just waiting for the call now.
So ollie is dna sexed male, very bonded to my partner and i, tolerates my female tiel very well, although I try to keep a distance between them when they are out just in case. Also ive introduced birds several times in the past with no issues so know the methods to use etc. I was just wondering how easy gcc are in general to introduce to each other? Im hoping one day they will share a cage but if not it doesnt matter

I've never had a problem with GCCs. The smaller species are much easier to get bonded to another bird than the big ones.

Thanks pajarita, I thought that might be the case, Ollie's pretty darn sociable anyway so I'm not overly worried, that said I'll still be careful and never hurts to check now I have the resources to do so!

GMV- that's what I'm worried about really, my 'tiels really nervous and I don't want anything aggravating that, Ollie can be quite the bully when he wants......

I went to visit the GCC yesterday, she's the sweetest little thing ever (along side every other animal of course). Her name is Rio and she flew right to me and happily sat on my shoulder chirping away. I didn't meet the woman I spoke to the other day as she had to take her son to an emergency appointment but her husband talked me through Rio's likes and dislikes, routines etc and it seems she has a lifestyle very similar to mine already but with less attention as time goes by.
I'm very happy say I'm bringing Rio home early this week :D Only reason I didn't bring her home there and then is because the woman wanted to say her goodbyes over the weekend and be there when I took her

Thank you wolf :) I'm setting off in about an hour to go get her. I'm so excited that Ollies getting a friend of his own species, I'm so excited that my family is expanding and I can't wait to learn about Rio for myself and get her settled in.
