Hey, don't knock the Amazons. I love my kids not just the breed. Their personalities are opposite just like my human kids are.

I know I'm a jerk for saying this, but I've never found a positive quality in an Amazon. Every Amazon I've ever met has had all the bad of a grey without a single positive. I've met people who used to raise/breed birds, big fanatics, and probably at least 2 of every breed of amazon. The only positive thing I can say about an Amazon is their training potential is almost unlimited. Otherwise, they are pure, unadulterated, evil.

Chalk this up to my stupidity and/ or sic sense of humor. But with this last statement from you exactly how does that not work out great for a self proclaimed masochist?

Because they don't cuddle! Bitey macaw? Sure, if he cuddles.

Oh, no, no, no, my dear, amazons are FABULOUS birds! They are beautiful, smart, great eaters, great bathers, great talkers, hardy if kept right, not clingy or needy, not too big and not too large and, compared to other species, not destructive -what more can you possibly ask of a pet parrot?!

HA! Have you ever had a too? Now, don't misunderstand me, I love them too, they are beautiful, smart, good eater, good bathers, quite the clowns and VERY affectionate but they are also DIFFICULT DIFFICULT DIFFICULT birds to keep! Lordy, any one of them are a one bird demolition crew! They can chew through a wall and the beams behind the sheetrock in a single afternoon. They are clingy and needy to the point that you can't do anything with them around. And boy are they LOUD! I had one of mine on my shoulder not to long ago and he decided to do his flock call - O M G, my entire brain vibrated inside my skull!
