Yeah same issues in the reptile world (which I'm more familiar with). Recessive genes absolutely require inbreeding to reproduce.
I had found a PDF online that showed the second pic and there was mention of this being a wild mutation with some localities expressing this trait in large numbers. And then an old forum post that the captive one pictured first is in Sweden. Other than that it doesn't seem as if they are in the States or being bred at all.
Sure are beautiful though.
