Yes, you are correct, there are two species of wild dogs, the dingoes in Australia (although, genetically, the dingoes come from domesticated dogs that 'reverted' to a wild state so they should not really be considered a separate species) and the African Wild dogs (the only 'true' wild dog), but, usually, when people talk about dogs (and she was talking about a Chihuahua), they are referring only to the domesticated species descending from wolves. The Samoyed is not a separate species of wild dog, it was domesticated from the wolves by the Samoyedic people of Siberia to be used as shepherds and sled dogs.
