So sad that we have brought them to such low numbers...

I love the little orange bellies.
GOD must have had fun putting an orange spot on a belly, a blue spot on front, yellow on head and so on.
I have had 3 little red dogs (Chihuahuas). I always said that "GOD must have laughed a lot when he was creating little red dogs.

I know, it is not politically correct but I am allowed to believe what I believe.

Of course you are! But God had nothing to do with creating dogs... He made wolves, man made dogs.

Not entirely true, Pajarita as there are a few natural dogs that came about without man creating them. There is a wild dog that I am not sure of whether it lives in Australia or Africa or even what it is called, but the other is the Samoyed which was not originally bred by man although it gets its name from the indigenous people of the area. I don't know of any others any where in the world.

Yes, you are correct, there are two species of wild dogs, the dingoes in Australia (although, genetically, the dingoes come from domesticated dogs that 'reverted' to a wild state so they should not really be considered a separate species) and the African Wild dogs (the only 'true' wild dog), but, usually, when people talk about dogs (and she was talking about a Chihuahua), they are referring only to the domesticated species descending from wolves. The Samoyed is not a separate species of wild dog, it was domesticated from the wolves by the Samoyedic people of Siberia to be used as shepherds and sled dogs.

I will double check since it has been 25years or so since I last checked, but my information said that Samoyeds were domesticated as you said but that they were a natural dog.
