No, actually, if Codee had not learned to fly at all, she would not do even horizontal flight and, some birds don't even glide. I have birds like that, too. Freddie LSC doesn't even open his wings when he feels he is falling down, he drops like a rock to the floor so I have to be extra careful with him. And one of my amazons would open her wings but only half-way and doesn't even move them so although she does glide after a fashion, it's such a clumsy thing as to be completely useless. Flying is instinctual for birds but if their wings were clipped when babies and first started flapping (thereby eliminating the air resistance), they stop doing it -because the neural paths are not there, they never formed...

i guess all the baby birds I ever owned had more flight before the breeder clipped them, and were species that were more robust, they all could fly well when their wings grew back. I am sad to hear abuot some of your poor babies.

Yes, it is sad that people do such terrible things to the poor things. Thankfully, we have learned a lot and, with the internet, we are able to share what we have learned so lots of people are becoming more choosy as to whom they buy from, pushing the breeders into better techniques (co-parenting, abundance weaning, etc) by sheer competition (not that I approve of breeding parrots to be used as human pets regardless of how good the breeder might be!). So, although on the one hand, the species are becoming more and more defective as the generations pile up, on the other, the babies produced do have better treatment than years ago -sheesh, they even used to sell incubator birds, that's how bad it was!

So many vets and internet info are still pushing pellets as the main part of the diet too. Imagine us having to eat only a vitamin cookie as our main source. It should be a no brainer, but our nutritiion as human beings can leave a lot to be desired too. I find my birds help me to eat better, I have all those veggies and fruits and sprouted nuts and seeds out so I cut them up for me to munch on too. The flock like me eating with them too.

Yes, it is shame that avian vets still push pellets. I don't expect the industry to say that they are no good because, to them, it's a business but avian vets should know better by now. No doubt about it! But things are getting much better and much faster than I would have thought possible! When I came up with the gloop 20 years ago, everybody was against me. And I do mean EVERYBODY! Even one of the co-founders of a birdsite we had years ago made fun of both my gloop and my recommendations of a solar schedule (I used to call it 'natural daylight schedule' and she would put NDBS instead - as in bullsh*t) and said both claims were nothing but bunk (she fed pellets and kept them at the old 12L/12D and insisted it was good even though she had off season layers and birds dying from eggbinding) but nowadays, there are lots and lots of people who feed gloop and keep their birds attuned to the seasons. And we have better cages, more medicines, better lights, more flighted birds, no flooding training methods, etc. And all this in only 20 years!!!

The noise level depends on the type of conure large conure tend to be louder like green cheek conure(GCC) which is one of the quietest conures and the sun conure which I know is really really loud

Well all GGC are not as quiet as my daughter thought. Her GGC has decided to imitate the loudest noisy bird outside and it is loud. Now he has copied the Meyers scream except louder. how can a tiny bird half the size of the Meyers be that loud?

Well, Timbrados are pretty loud but their song is sooooo beautiful that it doesn't really bother anybody - I would think.
