Yes, they are related. But the one you posted is about the night parrot and the one I posted is about the Western Ground Parrot.

Parrots generally don't seem to be doing so well (save for a few super common species). It always makes me really sad to read these types of news; we can't afford to loose our little "dinosaurs". There are so many parrots out there are doing really weakly... the kakapo, ground parrots, spix's macaws, the list is depressingly long. Even some popular pet parrots can be quite rare out there in nature which too, is a good indication of just how poorly they're doing.

Poor babies, I wish I could do something for them. Birds are amazing creatures in general, but parrots in particular seem to need more love and protection. It's also a huge shame that we have learned so much about them only in the past recent years. People didn't understand their dietary and other needs and ergo they didn't survive for long as pets. I guess this just emphasizes how important it is to care for our parrots properly and ensure we can offer them the best possible life; and looking into wildlife charities as well. I guess every little thing helps. Poor poor babies.

Here is a waggling kakapo to dance some positive vibes for all ground parrots and other fellow endangered parrots:

That's weird! When I opened it, it was about the night parrot with the title "Rare parrot photographed for the first time" but now I get an error page.

I agree, allot of the common parrots here in Australia are doing well, but allot of parrots obvioulsly dont handle change well, and the bush is getting cleared out so fast! We have hardly touched our property and there is like 35+ acres of bush that habitat lots of native animals, but the neibours and council just goes *shwam* make a house here or *shwam* 'clean' up our property. I find it so sad, and its not just parrots! Dingos here in Qld are rappidly declining in numbers because of habitat loss and probably lots of hunters out there. (Dont know if its illegal to hunt them in Qld, I think at one stage they were considered a pest.)
Also cats! People let there cats out of a night and they do big damage to the enviroment, and we have had cats show up in our property of the night many times and lost some of our birds to them if we let them out to early. It is just heartbreaking to see this stuff happen. And most of the time it is our fault that it is!
I couldnt veiw the video ?? :?
Edit: there we go, it just didnt want to load.. Its showing now! Lol
