"Rare" parrot breeder?

Postby Tinta » Tue Jul 19, 2016 8:16 pm

Does anyone on the forum know of any breeders that typically have "rarer" birds?
Seems I've gone and fallen for one that's going to be really hard to find, if I can find it at all.

What parrot is this, if I may ask? Many times what is considered to be a rare parrot is just a matter of location.

Indeed this one is very rare and so far I have not found any in the USA.

Yes, indeed, they are VERY rare and I doubt you will find any breeders of the species in USA as no wild-caught birds have been imported since 1992 so all the ones that might have come before that are now dead. As far as I know, all the maroons in captivity are local pets that have been poached from the wild and the species is in decline because of this practice and loss of habitat. But, if may ask, why would you want to get a parrot that, apparently, cannot be kept alive longer than a few years (if I remember correctly, the most was just 7!) in captivity?
