The eclectus enigma

Postby Pajarita » Sat Aug 20, 2016 10:29 am

I loved, loved, loved this article! It's about the strong dimorphism between the genders of the eclectus parrots, how they differ from other species in their breeding and social structure and how this influenced evolution so they ended up looking the way they do. Wonderful information and so very interesting!!!

PS As an interesting note, it is believed that there are no pure subspecies of eclectus in USA, they are all mixed to one degree or another because breeders did not know there were different ones and thought the very small differences were simply individual instead of specific to the subspecies.
