Golden-shouldered parrots

Postby Pajarita » Sun Sep 18, 2016 11:24 am

I am giving you a general description of the species, one from the point of view of a hobbyist on the species and two links related to the fact that they are endangered and what is been done about it.

This is the general description of the species (a little one from Australia and related to the redrumps): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Golden-shouldered_parrot

This is the one from the hobbyist which has a lot of good points and info: https://parrotsociety.org.au/articles/g ... rot-part-1

These two are about the same thing, namely, what is making them disappear and the efforts made on their behalf by ecologists, ornithologists AND the Olkolas, aborigines of their natural habitat. I particularly liked their belief that the 'alwal' (the name they use for them) never forgot that he came from the Earth and that's why he makes his nest close to it (they don't nest in trees but in termite mounts - isn't that interesting?!)
