Please, somebody give these parrots a compass so they can fly south for the winter.

This must be why several places outlaw them. The communities they build supply heat for all so I'm going to assume the colder the climate the bigger the colonies? BW

:lol: They don't migrate... they don't even fly far for foraging.

No, it has nothing to do with temperature. The size of the colony (and the nest) is dependent entirely on the number of individuals -which are all related to the original pair that started the nest because the daughters stay with their mother (quakers are matriarchal) and their husbands leave their parents to join them (and build a new 'addition' to the original nest - kind of like a 'mother and daughter' house :D ).

But they are outlawed mainly because they are considered agricultural pests in the countries of origin and they figure that, if they are a pest there, they will be a pest here.
