Guayaquil's macaw

Postby Pajarita » Tue Sep 25, 2018 10:25 am

The Guayaquil is a subspecies of the Great Green Macaw [aka Buffoon's or Great Military macaw] and it's thought to be virtually extinct in the wild [30 individuals or less] so there is now a project that is planning to release birds raised from captive-bred animals into their original territory. First link is to the story [scroll all the way down], the second is about the project that bred the birds, the third is about the preserve where they are doing this project and the other two are about the species.
