That's a good sized parrot! Surprised they call it a parakeet. Looks like something between a conure and macaw. Anyone know what wanna of these babies might run?

hmmm actually its not that much! it runs around 600 dollars i also saw a Rosella Golden Manteled Parakeet for sale at about 600 dollars too so that must be the price range but.. they are jsut beautiful <3

I find it funny too that they are sometimes called Golden Pakakeet. Though I have seen Conure sometimes being interchanged with Parakeet, it seems less strange when one is refering to the small Conures.

I don't know how much they normally run for in Canada, I have only seen a pair for sale once for 10,000$! To my knowledge, they are not as available as pets as they are in the USA. In the USA, I don't know how much they go for from a breeder, but I have seen people mention that they can go for upwards of 2,500$ from a pet store.

They are classified as a Conure, but I think I read somewhere that they are in the midst of being reclassified, as being closer to Macaws or something. They are quite endangered, doesn't the USA require some sort of permit to sell them or cross state lines or something? I recall hearing something about permits, but don't know the details. I haven't really done much research into it, so I'm sorry if I'm way off base and remembering things wrong.

i heard that they are endangered so they must be hard to have as a pet and i wouldnt be surprised if you had to have permits. still they are beautiful!!!

they are called a golden conure and they are classed as endangered

life span in the wild is about 10 years and the oldest living on captivity died at age 43
they travel in pairs or groups of up to 20

they are devoted to other birds and will often take on other pairs chicks if another pair has to many.

they are endangered because of the exotic pet trade and the destruction of there rainforest's

yeah, it's also called a Queen of Bavaria.....the place where I got my birds from, they have had like 2 or 3 since i've been there, and they are very sweet birds.....
