Baby Umbrella Cockatoo opinions please :)

Postby Bear » Tue Jun 01, 2010 2:13 pm

Hi everyone, I'd appreciate some opinions please. We are looking to buy an Umbrella Cockatoo and have seen this baby, he is 8 weeks old, on 3 meals of porridge a day and eating a little hard feed, what do you think of him? Thanks in advance!

He's cute. Are they going to wean him before they sell him? Cockatoos are incredibly difficult to hand feed! Also, they are among the most rehomed parrot because they are extremely loud and demanding. I always advise everybody to do extensive research on them before buying them. This is a great site. http://mytoos.com/

That baby looks so cuddly just make sure you know what it is to have a cockatoo.. My friend's mother bought one and he regrets it pretty much everyday with all the noise such a bird creates. Good luck ,I hope you're happy with your decision whether it be to get one or not. :D

And whoah pchela that site scared me even more from cockatoos... :(

Not a cockatoo. They may be related, but the personality is way different! There is really no comparison.

They're more than just related. Cockatiels are a species of Cockatoo.

(Sorry for stealing the topic, good luck with the White Cockatoo)

A Cockatiel is no less a Cockatoo than a Galah, Sulphur Crested, or Palm Cockatoo. How do we define a Cockatoo? Besides the DNA/taxonomic relationships, the visual feature that differentiates Cockatoos from True Parrots is the movable crest. Cockatiel sure has one.
