But it doesn't have the attitude, noise level, size or rehome rate of a cockatoo which is what we are talking about!

Thank you. Back to what you were saying about all Cockatoos...? Besides the fact that they all have a movable crest, what did you say they were all like? :P

Dunno. They are in the same family, but cockatiels are in the genus Nympicus. They are more closely related to those birds, mostly in genus Cacatua, we call cockatoos than they are to budgies budgies, but I wouldn't say it is accurate to say a cockatiel is a cockatoo. Bit like saying a green cheek conure is a Senegal because they are both in Psitticidae.

My husband had a cockatoo that died from beak and feather disease. He loved that bird and I'm not sure he ever got over it... he would love to have another one, so I think if you have the space to avoid scaring your neighbors...

Thanks for the responses guys!

haha no I'm not worried about noise...we run a game lodge and if the lions and elephants etc don't annoy us, one more bird wont! You should hear the noise Franklins make (small fowl type birds) its worse than nails on a chalkboard times 1000, and that's our wake up call every morning, so no worries about noise :)

Also we live where we work and our birds take it in turns to come to work with us, our office is a one minute walk from our house, my CAG is next to me right now destroying lots of important paperwork as usual :) :gray:

If you run a game lodge then I'd say by all means, get a Cockatoo!

Yeah but wouldn't you worry about disturbing the African Ambiance with an Australian Parrot? Perhaps a Cape Parrot is more in line

My mom currently has 4 African Greys (one foster) and 4 Cockatoos, including one that thinks he's a Grey. They do pretty well in the same area. Don't necessarily hang out together but they can all be out together under supervision.

Rescue an unloved unwanted Umbrella Cockatoo instead. Just saying.

I would never buy a dog from a breeder... I would go for the one nobody wants and save them. That's just me...
