I had an older rehomed Senegal years ago and she has one silverish eye and one bright yellow eye.

My Senegal, Loki, was a rescue. He was checked out by an avian vet who said he was a healthy young adult. I am guessing he is male by the coloration of his vent feathers and length of his vest. (I know that may not be accurate.) I've had him for about 1 1/2 months.

His eyes were a pale buttery yellow until yesterday. We noticed that one eye has some streaks of brown-ish color with a spot of darker color near the pupil. The other eye still looks the same. He is still acting normal and eating well. He does not act as if that eye is bothering him or affecting his vision.

I know that Senegal eyes change color, but I don't know if streaks or spots are normal. See the pictures I've attached.

Has anyone had this experience with their Senegal? :senegal:

Hmmm, no, I've never seen that in any bird (I actually went and looked at my senegals' eyes closely and they have perfectly round pupils without any irregular edges or spots on the irises). Is not quite discoloration or the whitish spots of cholesterol deposits but spots of a deeper, darker color... and they don't look like bruises, either. Very unusual. Are you sure they were not there before and you simply did not notice it? If so, do you, by any chance, use an avian or UV lamp that could have burned the cornea? Although I don't think that a burnt cornea would look like that...

No, this color change is new. We've taken multiple videos and pics of him and none show this the brown iris color. He is the center of attention, so I'm pretty certain it formed quite quickly.

He is not under an avian lamp or being taken outside yet. I am working on that set up. For now, the room he is in is very well lit with natural, but indirect sun light.

Don't use any 'avian' lights. They are not really 'avian', they are just reptile lights that have been relabeled for birds. Use a good quality full spectrum (CRI 94+, Ktemp 5000-5500), instead and don't put it near him, put it in the ceiling fixtures (better safe than sorry).
