The place where I got my b/g Macaw, my Cobalt, my Yellow-Sided, and now my Cuban Amazon....they had the Black Palm, and I saw it come back in one day with the owners, because it was due for a nail/wing clipping.....it was gorgeous, but boy did it have a temper, lol!!

anyways, speaking of rare/uncommon birds.....the one that i'm getting, the Cuban Amazon, they are pretty rare and are not seen very often. They are also tough to breed. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cuban_Amazon)

Another one that is VERY rare, and there are not many in the US, is the mutation of the Yellow Naped Amazon, this particular mutation makes the bird come out all blue, but it's a light, sky blue with amber colored eyes and i have to say that this bird is STUNNING.....the place also has one, because the lady who had him didn't spend time with him and kept him pretty much in his cage, so they took him back and have had to work with him and basically rehab him....they can't ship him to anywhere outside the US due to the fact that these particular ones are on the endangered species list. (http://heavensentaviary.com/babies.htm) the picture of the blue amazon mutation is at the very bottom of the page of the link provided.

I'm lucky enough that I get to work with Red-tails, Carnaby's and Baudins cockatoos and a few other species every weekend. The red-tails are definitely the sweetest, there is a juvenile at the centre I go to that will just let you cuddle her forever, she is so beautiful. I would give a lot to see/touch/play with a Kakapo. They are one of the most gorgeous birds, with their big, round owl-like faces. So adorable!

I have seen both the red Vent and the Black Plam Cockatoos.
I have to say the Black Plam Cockatoos are much cooler than the Red Vent.
The red vent looks really like the Goffin's Cockatoo

I love that you guys mention Red Tailed Black Cockies as rare, but here in Australia you see them flying in flocks.
We have a Red Wing Parrot, I've never met anyone else who's had one, or ever seen another one anywhere else. We also had 3 Black Cap Lorries when I was younger, another bird I haven't seen around much since.

When I was working at a showjumping stud in Yarra Glen there were flocks of these Corella's in all the paddocks, thieving out of the feed bins.
