Can't believe I missed this.... but, as far as very rare and uncommon parrots....

The Greater Vasa Parrot (from madagascar) is just as about uncommon as they come. I've seen them on waitinglists from certified reputable breeders for as long as a 1.5year wait.

So, how we got ours? Somehow The Parrot Place location we go to pulled many strings and used contacts, and viola... we got Chocobo:

groomed one of these guys today, a Hispaniolan Amazon, now endangered in the wild, and not for sale in the US(as far as i know). This guy (not the one in the picture, just a stock image) was hand fed and super sweet! probably will never see another one again in my lifetime unfortunately, so it was quite a treat to get to see one.

Really makes me think that some of the smaller amazons and pionus are distant cousins, he was like a beefy pionus. about the same size as a spectacled amazon.

hanging parrots, golden conures, chattering lories, illigar's macaws, ruppell's parrots, and major mitchel's cockatoos are one of the rarest parrots i know in pet trade, or at least was in pet trade for a couple.

One I'd love to see but haven't yet is a Black palm cockatoo...not that common in Canada ;)

I've only seen them once... Hmm.... Maybe a lorikeet?

I've heard of a lot of rare species, but met very few.
A couple of those (that I've met) would be the Cuban and Tucuman amazon. I realize in the US Moluccan Cockatoos or Scarlet Macaws are not rare at all, but here in Sweden they are very rare.
Kakarikis though are very common.

Lots of species there. ;)
