Anyone purchase from... ?

Hey everyone, just wondering if anyone here has purchased a bird from Genesis Aviaries in Calgary, Canada?

Hi Ashley, this probably doesn't help, but I almost did a while back, and a friend of mine almost did too. I ended up not buying a bird from them simply because I wasn't 100% sure about the species and my friend changed his mind when he found a lovable cockatiel in a store instead.

Oh Boo! haha. She seems like such a nice person, but I'm very skeptical about buying from someone in a different province. It's more so that I cant physically go there and see her birds, and the condition she keeps them in. She has a great website, and I've been speaking with her for a little over 2 weeks now. Hope Im making the right decision, as 600$ is a lot of money!

I agree she seems quite nice & helpful and the website is wonderful with all it's info, but I totally understand your hesitation. I'm not sure that even if you lived here if she allows visits though, but I could be mistaken.

Oooo this sounds exciting... what are you thinking of getting, if I may ask? $600 - sounds like a blue Quaker or Conure? Does she ship?

I'm planning on getting a sun conure, and yes she ships I'm not sure I'm getting one through her though. I haven't heard from her, and she's essentially refusing to send me pictures without first having my full payment. Doesn't seem right to me :S

Doesn't sound right to me either....most breeders are eager to send pictures and information to anyone keenly interested...

I would personally stay away and start looking elsewhere.

I recently bought little baby Einstein the cockatiel from Sunset Aviaries in Ottawa, Ontario. When I got Einstein I was shocked when I found out how amazingly cuddly he was! He was in perfect health, and when I went to pick him up her entire house was filled with happy beautiful birds. I know that right now she has baby sun conures for sale. They are 750$ dollars, so a bit more expensive, but she does ship anywhere in Canada. The woman's name is Shirley Usher and the website is http://www.sunsetaviaries.ca/

Aren't there any good breeders closer to where you live?
