Do you have any wild parrot species living near your home? If so, what kind?

I wonder why no one has ever replied to this. Maybe they don't have any wild parrots around them. But I happen to live in Rio de Janeiro. So I'm going to list a few of the parrots that I have spotted near my house:

Channel Billed Toucan (I saw one today on my morning drive)

Maritaca - Scaly Headed Parrot (very common)

Red-Bellied Toucan (I spot them sometimes on my way to my mum's house in the mountains)

localpigeon, that's amazing that you see those birds in the wild. Bird watching would defintely become a hobby if I could see parrots in the wild.

The closest I came was seeing Lorikeets in the wild when I visited austrailia 8 years ago, but that was before I had birds of my own and wasn't quite as fascinated with them as I am now.

Issy, you can actually see them all in Sydney? That's fantastic. I must see them one day. The black cockatoo is my favorite.

Just wondering, does the fact that you see them(these parrots) everyday in Australia detract from the experience of owning one?

On my recent trip to Brazil these xmas holidays, I spotted these... Not the best picture but it was getting dark and they were a bit far for the flash to capture them...

Where about in Brazil? Not a bad picture. These birds are normally too far or too fast to photograph : )

We don't have wild parrots, but we do have long-term feral flocks. Mostly various birds that would be called conures.
