Lovie beak clicking??

Postby Azure Hanyo » Wed Sep 01, 2010 8:22 pm

I have a weird question... I have never heard any bird do this except my new baby lovie, Cloud. When he is falling asleep in my hand, he will clack his beak or kind of grind it. Does anyone know what that is? Is he scared? I thought him falling asleep meant he was content? Please excuse my ignorance. Cloud is my first lovie... And he confuses me. lol!!! :?

I thought all parrots do this?

He's sharpening his beak so when he gets older he can get good at biting you

Oh grandparrot, what a big beak you have!

I mean my caique makes clicking noises with her beak, but she doesn't grind it. Guess I didn't explain it well...

Both mine grind when they're really happy and content, normally when they're falling asleep (esp. when it's a food coma  )

No shame here, every bird is different. When I first heard Jake do it I almost flipped, I thought it was like people teeth grinding and he would break his beak

btw, your new lovie seems so sweet! :swaying:

The beak grinding is normal and both my two do it ... always at night when they're winding down and settling in for bed. It is a sign of contentment as others have said. It means you have a happy and content Lovie!

He's not preparing, he's plotting your demise. One day you'll walk in on him and archimedes drawing a map of your home with Galileo on look out
