She lets the parents raise the chick till it's about a month old at which point it was too late to make a closed band. Jean often doesn't band the parrots and recommends micro chipping. However, as I plan to keep the parrot flighted indoors and take it outside, I requested she open band it for me post factum.

*He

We found a direct/non-stop flight from Tampa to NYC that is just 3 hours. However, with all the airport mumbo jumbo and hour driving times to airport on either end, I wouldn't be surprised if the parrot spends 8+ hours in the crate.

Exciting news! I bet tomorrow will feel like the longest day ever! I don't think I'd be able to concentrate on much until he was safely with me at home.

I did a lot of research on Capes...they are difficult to get here, though. "The Gentle Giant" is a description that I read often. I can't wait to hear about your new addition!

BTW, I know you were considering a CAG or TAG. I took care of a TAG for two weeks, with the option to adopt....but I developed a cough and wheeziness. I knew they were dusty but I underestimated just how bad it is....
