Green Cheek Conure

So, I was doing some reading today, and somewhere I read that green cheek conures are relatively quiet and are suitable for apartment life. Is this true? Also, what other parrot species are known for being quiet. I know linnies, lovebirds, budgies, cockatiels, and pionus are supposed to be quiet, but what else?

GCCs are relatively quiet, and they are said to be the quietest of the conures. That said, Scooter can produce a fair noise when he wants to! He doesn't do it very often, though. I'd say he'd probably not annoy the neighbors unless the walls were quite thin. He does contact-call when we come in and once in a while he'll "go off", but his voice isn't very big, really, and he doeesn't serenade the sun twice a day or anything like that.

For that matter, Scotty isn't all that noisy.

You can ask around but Panama Amazons are amazingly quiet, they talk fairly well and never get loud even when all the other species of Amazons are having screaming fits in the same room !!!!

I'll agree with that, our GCC is very quiet most of the time, only time he goes for it is when he hears running water in the kitchen or when people leave the room, he settles pretty quickly though and the noise he makes really isn't that bad compared to a lot of birds.

The best noise he does make though is when he is content and cuddled in, really cute wee brr noises, pure gold
