parrots/wild birds as pets

I was wondering today what makes parrots so adaptable to life with humans while other wild birds just seem like wild birds? Not that other wild birds that have been raised by humans don't seem like pets because there are some that do. It just seems like parrots are more adaptable to being pets. And they seem more content with being pets than other wild birds would be.
Is this wrong and it's just that humans like them more?

Those birds are adorable!! I love the last picture, how sweet. I have heard of other types of wild birds being pets. A woman I know fed a couple of fledglings and they stayed around after she let them go, and they land on her shoulder every evening when she goes on her back patio.

My mom had a canary throughout her teen years and it was tame. I think any bird is able to be "tamed". Parrots just happened to be the most popular pets, so that's why they're in the pet market rather than robins or crows.

Don't forget falcons and flaconers... while these can be working birds, there is certainly a long history and, in my mind, they are far more "wild" than parrots. I have a friend who had red-tailed hawks. Very different, but still a close human/bird interaction. Actually, in this case, human/dog/bird team.

Well, in HK it is illegal to keep falcaons....otherwise I reckon I would love to have one...
