I really want to see this mysterious Parasol Cockatoo now. :T
It's a quest.
A bird does not sing because it has an answer. It sings because it has a song.

My favourite is the Sulphur Crested...But this is a biased opinion as I owned one as a child. My father was a police officer, and was posted to a small Australian country town. We lived there for 5 years. One day when i was about 6 years old dad came home with this noisey, ugly, featherless creature in a cardboard box...someone had found him on the side of the road and not knowing what to do with him had dropped him off at the police station! We knew very little about birds and had only ever owned a canary (which hadnt lasted long). We handraised the ugly little thing using a tablespoon with the sides bent up. I'm not exactly sure what we fed him or how often...but he grew up to be the most beautiful bird! He was never caged or clipped, just lived in the backyard with the 2 dogs, a cat, a turtle (another drop-off at the police station), and an assortment of pet rabbits. He rarely flew, mostly walked around everywhere, visiting neighbours and tormenting their dogs from the tops of fences  He was a wonderful talker....could imitate the voices of my siblings and I and would often call out "Muuuuum" from the backyard and fool our mother into racing outside to see who was hurt  He would also bark with the dogs whenever anyone came to the gate, or just imitate the squeaking of the gate to make the dogs bark! He also did other naughty things like unpeg the neighbours washing so that it fell into the dirt.
When dad's 5 year posting in the country was over and it was time to return to the city i was devistated to learn that Henry couldnt come with us. Mum and Dad said he was too loud for our city neighbours and that he wouldnt be able to roam around freely either and it wouldnt be fair to cage him. So he was handed on to the police officer and his family that came to replace my Dad, and live in the Police dept house where we had lived. This practice, of the departing officer handing over Henry along with the keys to the police station and the house, still continues to this day, 30 years later! :)
