They're loud.

I think out 2 lovebirds are louder than the 4 budgies. I personally like the "murmuring" of the budgie. Kind of a contented babbling.

I don't even notice the sounds of their tweeting anymore.

What about a parrotlet?
Mine was very cute until he died.

I second the parrotlet, there are a ton of sites out there with info, some conflicting on them. I think though without knowing your budget, and personal desires, that is a tough call.
Our next and last(but we always say "last") bird is a parrotlet. It is an egg right now :hatching: , ha ha, already paid for.
I am gradually holding the egg upside down longer and longer each day. That way it will be able to do the bat trick when it hatches. And I read to it cuz I want it to pop out talking.

Parrotlets are 10ft tall and bulletproof. HUGE personalities for such tiny birds. Mine waddled and was so cuddly and cute. Whatever bird you end up with, please make sure to buy a well well well weaned bird from a reputable reputable reputable breeder. My Ponyo died after 4 days of having him and guesses are he wasn't properly weaned and died from starvation.

Just be careful what bird you add because some of them have dander, etc. and can affect other birds.

I'm curious about this statement, what birds are not a good mix in terms of things like dander?

i think most of the "Toos and Tiels" are dusty. i only had my tiel 3 weeks and had to rehome her because my allergies became relentless.
i have a ringneck and she is pretty quite althought she has her moments. she is saying "hi Betty" right now and whistling, which is very quiet and sweet, then she will let loose a couple ringneck calls which are loud.
my Sennie is pretty quiet, even when she screams for me its not loud.
the budgies i had were a constant chatter that i really liked, it made the house seem to be full of life and a happy place because thats what budgies are, happy little birds who love to chatter about everything. buts its joyful noise to me.
my moustache parakeet was very noisy as well, but i guess that was just her. her new owner has a male who is vey quiet and she says Pandora is a motormouth compared to him lol!
i hear that parrotlets can be little pistols! like a chihuahua, big personality in a tiny body.
i guess you need to spend some time around some of these birds to see what may be a good fit for you.
good luck in your hunt for your new FID!

Sooo I've decided that I do want another companion parrot after all. Although I'm sure it would be better for Akilah if I got one while she is still young, I don't think I'm experienced enough to take on another "full-time" parrot, so I am going to wait until I feel the time is right. Probably within the next two years though so I don't think it's too soon to look for a breeder...I want a Jardine's! I'm sure of that now. The Poicephalus family seems to be the perfect group of parrots for me. I've been watching all the youtube vids I can find on Jardines, and they are great! Can't wait to meet one in person.
