Now that I've had my GCC for a couple of weeks, I feel like I've got a good read on his personality. So I can answer this question about him now.
Cheney Bird is a needy bird. If he sees you and you aren't paying attention to him, bless your soul because he will let you know how unhappy he is. If he's hanging out with you and you're paying attention to something else, be prepared to lose some skin and blood. I've had my lip bitten twice when I've been on the phone with him on my shoulder. Even if he hears the phone ring and sees you pick it up, he's on his way over to you for attention.
I'm not sure if it's because he's a rescue bird and didn't have much one-on-one attention at the rescue, but he seems a lot more clingy than other GCCs I've heard about. I don't mind because I have ample time and attention to give him, however it was a shock at first. My budgies want almost nothing to do with me. I think Cheney Bird would be devastated if I left for longer than a couple of hours.
Now that he's settled in a bit more, he's begun playing with his toys. He's a little acrobat and likes to show off on his swing. He will hang upside down in the corner of his cage and "pet" himself. He doesn't seem too interested in toys until he sees the budgies playing with them, but once he does, that toy becomes his absolute favorite. He's a bit jealous, but not really super possessive.
Overall, he's the perfect bird for me at this point in my life. The biting is a bit frustrating, but knowing he loves me and needs me makes it all worth it. He's going to take a lot of work to get him socialized properly, but I can't imagine a better way to spend my time.
