Is this a cockatiel thing?

Postby zazanomore » Mon Feb 21, 2011 9:00 pm

Whenever Einstein sings or begins talking, he lifts up his leg, like as if he was waving.

It makes him look like he's doing a little dance, it's really cute. Sometimes he'll be singing with his leg waving in the air, and he'll begin petting my arm like the bird in this video:

Is this typical behavior for cockatiels? Do all parrots raise their leg when they sing?

Or is this just an Einstein thing?

probably just einstien ive had four cockatiels and none of em has ever done that. although my current bird charlie when he listens to something with a beat or when he beatboxes he flaps his wings like hes a rap star haha :danicing: but i think its cause he copies me cause sometimes when i listen to music infront of him i dance around to entertain him. do u move ur hands around? cause he may just be copying u haha

Ha ha :)

I think it's just an Einstein thing too. Mine in the past have never done this.

Stryder does climb upside down in his cage and just hangs there playing with his toys sometimes - I've never seen another cockatiel do this! I guess that's what happens when your cockatiel thinks its a Grey (and vice versa).

Silly feathers!

one of my birds hangs upside down and plays the other one doesn't its really weird i think its jsut hit and miss with some birds haha. Charlie (lutino) dosent do anything he cant jump from perch to perch or go upside down any thing like that. hes not very agile like sasha im starting to think charlie is a girl and sasha is a boy, cause Sasha is sooo F'ing loud and charlie is more so quiet, but is vocal more vocal than female cockatiels, Its confusing. haha

Both my budgies love being upside down. They are everywhere, all the time.

Einstein though, he prefers perching on his food dish and singing me songs :)
