Is it just me???? It boggles my mind when someone owns a parrot, yet doesn't know what kind of parrot it is. On two occasions already, I have seen parrot for sale ads. One guy claimed to be selling a nanday conure, which in the picture it showed a cherry headed conure....and on another ad, a woman (who was selling both her birds due to her pregnancy) had a picture of a gold capped conure and a blue crowned conure and had a caption saying "blue crown conure and sun conure for sale".....
To me, knowing the species of your parrot would explain a lot of important things to an owner. Especially when you are trying to sell it to another person.

I emailed the woman and told her she owned a gold capped, not a sun conure and she was very offended of my correction to her. She said "a conure is a conure".....

I don't think you should own a bird without knowing what type of bird it is. Pet ownership should only be for responsible people, not any shmoe with a some money to throw around.

Also, there's a lot of differences between conures. I purposely chose my Green Cheek because he fit the criteria of what I was looking for. A Nanday or Sun Conure, while both beautiful, are much different and not something I could handle at the moment.

It also bothers me when people buy an animal strictly for the way it looks. I think my birds are adorable, but I chose them based on personality and characteristics (noisiness, volume of noise, diet requirements) that I could handle rather than how pretty their colors are.

What pisses me off that I see SOO often, is when people post ads with the bird species spelt wrong!
Eg. cocktail, cockateil, cockatail, parrotlette, etc. But ESPECIALLY the cockatiels.

About budgies:
I heard so many times from person who have a budgie, that their parakeets are something, something. When I use the word:"budgie" they look very surprised and usually say they don't know what's that, because they have parakeets, not budgie.

One time I was in the store(one of those chain stores:pet-something) looking for toys and I said to salesman something about their budgies. He told me, that they don't have budgies, only parakeets. My reaction was like that:
He explained me after that, that budgies are bigger than those parakeets
The only explanation I can think of he was thinking: American Budgie, English Budgie

Yes, it's very annoying. It's even more annoying (alarming?) when I'm dealing with another breeder and they don't know what it is they have. I was talking w/ someone about their CRIMSON rosella pair, he kept saying they're CRIMSON rosellas, described to me CRIMSON rosellas, yadda, yadda, yadda. I show up and it's a pair of EASTERN rosellas. They don't even come close to looking the same.

On the other hand, I would think a cocktail would be easy to sell, provided it's going to a home wherein everyone's a drinker. Does it come with a disclaimer "must be over 21 to purchase"?
