I'd be too terrified to hand feed them.

Make sure to keep us update on their growth!

Good grief! A bird the size of a bumble-bee with a crop the size of half a pea? How do you know how much to feed? (I'd guess 0.1 - 0.2 ml, is that about right?) How do you even feed something that tiny? I'm with Zaza, except I'd be scared to touch it, much less feed the wee little thing. :hatching: Please do keep us posted on how it grows. I'm really interested now!

I don't know the actual quantity fed. I watch the crop and gauge it that way. I use a fine tip pipette. In the past I used to use a drinking straw cut into a little spoon. The key for me is to not actually squeeze the food into babies this tiny, but let the baby lick it at its pace and the capillary action fills the baby.

Some parrot chicks have down, some don't. The indian ringnecks are pretty naked at hatch. I think budgie babies are pretty naked, too.

Wow, I was amazed at the size of my Tiel chicks when they hatched, tiny tiny little things!
My GCC breeder was handrearing finches when we picked our GCCs up! I can't imagine how tiny a newly hatched finch would be! Her pair kept pushing the chicks out so she wanted to atleast try to save them.
