I dunno, Cockatoo babies don't really appeal to me... but Senegal babies on the other hand!

Do you have plans on getting another one?

The store Chico came from have Moluccan Cockatoo too. I can't resist and each time I'm there, I have to pet her. Sometimes boyfriend has to pull me out from that store. I'm often saying that that's my dream bird, but there is no chance I will have one in the future. No, no, petting her in the store is enough ;) Little Cockatiel as a smallest of all Cockatoos is enough for me at home ;)

Wearing some form of protection and handling the bird you are fearful of as often as possible will help. I used to be afraid of CAGs for soem reason, not anymore. Baptism by fire.

I tend to just get right in there. I was nervous about Cheney Bird's beak when I first got him, but decided it was better to not show him that fear than let him know I was nervous. Now he only tries to bite when I'm harnessing him.

I've been bitten by Cockatoos before, and I find them significantly less painful than a conure bite. My GCC just gets right in there and twists chunks of skin out. A Cockatoo is fast and deliberate.. but they let go and rarely draw blood that I've seen.

the worse bites I've gotten have been from Pickle, Bryans hahn's. They have tiny, sharp little beaks and that little "pecker" can fly from a different room, hone in on his target and attack before you know he's there. He has this nasty pentient for backs of necks and has drawn blood on me a few times. Its painful because his beak makes punctures more than bites and they are usually pretty deep.

The bite to the face that I got from my macaw was painful, but was a one tiem occurence. I've been bitten numerous times by Pickle, drawing blood every time.

My Jardine has a painful bite as well, but as a few mention, they rarely draw blood. They grab, bite and twist so you end up with a swollen bruise. He doesn't bite me very often, its usually a slip of balance or picking him up/ roughhousing when he doesn't want to be touched.

Nope, I dont think so! I know a lot of people who are afraid of them. I think they kind of look like E.T.

Hey Miss Moa, it hurts, it hurt yesterday, even after cool water and ice, it hurt last nite , it hurt today, and it still hurts tonight.

Well it's happened again, i just happened to be videoing "Nitro"(bet you can't guess why we named him that). Nitro is a very old YN male EX-breeder who we rescued about a year ago and i've made a lot of progress with him but he will still explode on you.As you might be able to see he is molting and has lots of pin feathers, so he's been really loving his stratches from "dad", I had him out saturday and he bit the tar out of me when i went to put him back in the cage. The bite in the quote is from sunday when i got in between 2 hen YNs who were about to fight. And here is Nitro today.
