A greater vasa parrot definitely, they're rare to buy since their look makes them unpopular but personally I really like the idea of having a huge black elongated raven creature for a pet, plus they're meant to but as tame as dogs... Look on youtube... They're awesome!

Failing that probably either a ducorps or a max pionus...

Now, in terms of raising one and keeping it as a pet, probably a Carolina Parakeet and I'm happpy with my :gcc:. <3 BUT I have a backstory: Before I got Peanut, I desprately wanted a Ring-neck Dove. My mom grew up in Milan, and she dislikes pigeons, so I didn't get one. :T I've been looking into getting button quail or chickens too, maybe when I get my own house (and no HOA).

ANY bird in the world, to kinda have it in an aviary or something (like finches), I would go for...

-Ivory-billed Woodpecker
-Passenger Pigeon
-Victoria Crowned-Pigeon
-Painted Bunting
-Indigo Bunting
-Hoopoes are cool
-I would have maybe an American Kestrel or a Peregrine Falcon but with the other birds... O_O
-Northern Mockingbird (those guys have ATTITUDES!)
-Northern Bobwhite
-Chimney Swifts
-Red-headed Woodpecker
-A Barn Owl would be cool or a Spotted Owl
-And the other 10,000 species of birds.

The reason I got Peanut was I love birds. I wanted a dove originally because it seemed more 'natural' (not as colorful, etc.) but don't worry, I am completely happy with Peanut.I wanted to actually see a bird up close instead of it flying away from me. Peanut is also my art subject and helped me learn how to draw wings.

And come on, who can resist that face?!

Like the OP said, I would love to have a Blue & Gold Macaw. I don't think I ever will because I don't think I'll ever have the resources (time & money) to raise a bird that large and I don't think my boyfriend would ever give me clearance for that. Having another bird would probably take a lot from Sadie too, which wouldn't be fair.

Alternatively, I would also absolutely LOVE to have an African Grey! Their intelligence, talking ability, and size are all appealing.

I have many of my dream birds... the only ones left are a Greater vasa, a Patagonian conure, a Golden conure, and a Kea. Those will have to wait until I win the lottery and am able to build a climate controlled outdoor aviary with stainless steel cages that are amazingly escape proof. LOL!

In the meantime, I'll just live with my dreams on paper. I'm good with that and the birds I have. :)
