Cockatiels are Australian birds. They live for 15 - 20 years. They eat seeds and pellets. They are ground feeders so they dont pick up food with their feet like other parrots. They have a crest so whenever they are happy or exited it goes up and when ever they are scared or relaxed it goes down. They like being petted on the crest. They are related to their larger cousins the cockatoo and they are members of the cockatoo family. They preen very often as they like to look good!
