This is not from me, but I've read stuff about it written by professionals. And this looks like a good case of it to me.

I love animals, but I am not one who believes one should not rehome a pet he or she has adopted. I believe there are certain situations where finding a suitable home is necessary.

Who is happy here ? The bird ? The owners ? I think not.

If there's any research that supports that, I'd love to see it. It sounds way out there to me, though. 20 years ago it was common for people to handfeed their prospective pets because it was felt to increase the bond. Now that's frowned on primarily because it is risky for the baby. Breeders sometimes retain handfed babies as pets. And although the pet-owner relationship may have aspects of a mate relationship, in most cases we actually want to discourage that. So I'm not buying that as an explanation without considerable evidence to support it. I've heard a number of arguments for co-parenting and this one never cropped up...

Well, I certainly am no scientist or behavioral specialist, but there seems to be a trend in another forum (french) I'm on and this theory is brought about a lot. I'll see if I can find you something. Can you read french ?

Tattoo has been rehomed. She found a police woman through her breeder who already has birds. It sounds like she did right by the little one and investigated the new home first.

Hurray
