some do, it's not just for cockatiels, but not for all of them. So far, after living with some birds for a bit, none, had gotten hurt.

parrots cannot see well in the dark, its almost like being blind except some moving shadows are seen

don't worry, it most likely won't. Its just prone on cockatiels, and kind of like how some people are afraid of the dark on other parrots. Just make sure you try to find signs of it early on to REALLY know.

Even on a cold night in the winter I leave a peek hole open. If something wakes them up they want to know what it is.

They take naps in sunshine during the day.

I've never had a night fright with my budgies. And only once with my cockatiel.

I'm pretty sure budgies aren't prone to them.

My birds all go to sleep when I do. I don't cover them or anything. We never really have problems.

The thing is, I need a bird that does not bite TOO hard (between budgie and senegal parrot) or has a nippy reputation, can entertain itself for a while, no louder than an aritinga conure, and are very cuddly and would rather hangout as I give it scritches rather than going out and chewing my house to tooth picks.

I know this limits about a jillion species, but I am wondering if there actually is a beginner bird that can fulfill these expectations. :?

I am a new bird owner. I have a jenday conure. He is 8 months old and is not nippy what so ever. he is loud only when he first wakes up in the morning letting me know "hey im awake" and then right before bed. i live in a condo and he cant be heard outside the condo even with windows open.he loves to cuddle and be pet i take him to walmart, home depot etc.he loves to chew his toys in his cage but he has never chewed anything else

I also have a parotlet, she is 12 weeks old and very quiet and independent. she loves to play with toys but also loves to snuggle in my shirt or in a blanket, she likes to be held rather than being on shoulders.she is about the same size as a budgie nut mothing like a budgie.

ive had both my birds less than a month but i know both were the perfect choice for me.
