This might be a stupid question, but wouldn't they wake up if mice were chewing their feet?

lol! I'm guessing the bird wouldn't be able to rest properly & would be stressed. & maybe you wouldn't end up w/footless birds exactly, but the birds would be bitten. Obviously, I'm no expert. That's just my assumption.

Once a mouse drew blood he would be hard for the bird to fight off.

Rambo landed on a Pearlett cage on time. The little birds protect their territory. They bit his feet and all he could think to do is pick up the foot being bit. Of course they went after the other. I had to go save him.

Myrtle landed on the Love Bird cage and did the same thing. They only think about saving the foot being bitten at the time. They have to be rescued.
