It's good that you stay in contact.
However, I still believe it's a risky thing. This isn't so much addressed to you as there is possibly other people out there that might think, based on your post, that buying unweaned babies is a good thing. For most, it's not. As this is a public forum and that a lot of people might read these posts, I do feel it's important to point out that there are risks to doing this.
I personally know breeders that have been shown and have been around other breeders when they started to learn the proper techniques. It was a whole learning experience, more than just a few hours. They were learning with the other breeder around, on clutches the other breeder had - and didn't have any of their own until they felt they were prepared for any eventuality.
But I am hoping all goes well for you and your bird, I really do.
