so im going to be getting another parrot sometime after christmas hopefully, if i find one i really like now i can get it im just trying to avoid having to go on vacation in december and leave my parrots at home by themselves. (theyll have someone at home with them just not a lot of interaction). it will only be for about a week.
so anyways im trying to decide what type of parrot to get my dad doesnt want me to get a really big parrot (large macaws) but anything smaller then that is fine. $1000 is my limit on how much im going to spend on the bird itself toys and cage are seperate.
i already have a blue headed pionus parrot that i adopted hes great with me and hates everyone else. were working on it though, hes territorial. im not sure what kind of bird would get along well with him? they just have to tolerate each other and not fight and ill be fine with that. im still in school and i babysit 3 times a week but i come home from school spend time with marty, then go babysit then come home give marty dinner and we hang out til its time for bed. sometimes there are exceptions but that usually our routine. i have some free time but the bird needs to be independant enough for me to be able to go to school and baby sit. marty has learned to play over these few months and i leave a radio on during the day so he doesnt get to lonely. he likes my dogs a lot to he calls for my beagal named bob. i have a younger sister who is about 4 and she sometimes comes around marty but not often. id like this parrot to be able to like someone besides. its okay if it bonds to just me but i want it to be able to interact with other people in my family. being loud isnt a big deal. food and toys im fine with spending the money on the toys or making them. doesnt matter about cage size, martys cage is a bigger size then he needs and he doesnt spend a lot of time in his cage.
im thinking about a parrolet, hahns macaw, sevre macaw, goffin cockatoo, meyers, caique, lorie, another pionus, indian ringneck, african grey.
so i have a lot of birds i like, im going to do a lot of research. ive found breeders and parrot shops that sell these types of parrots.
let me know your opinions on which parrots you think would be a good fit at my house please
