Yes, they all get out from 1:30-2 pm to 4:30 pm as a rule. I might have to change their out of cage time if something comes up. I also have them in two rooms when they are out, so I separate them with 4 birds in one room and 5 in the other room. The rooms are separated by mosquito netting curtains as are some of the cages, but if I leave the room to go to the bathroom, I sometimes come back to find two birds on one cage or play area. I also have boings hanging from the ceiling. It's a lot of work, but I love my fids! :)

My tiels and lovies form a new flock when they are out. When they go back they all go back in the tiel cage. I have to seperate them because I don't think the cage is big enough for eight and just can't afford a bigger one right now.

Re: How much daily attention does a senegal parrot nee ?

I will be getting a senegal parrot :senegal: soon and I have to go to school 8 hours a day not including homework and studying for tests. I don't want this bird to turn out mean because I don't have enough time for it. I might even do volley ball and come home late and may not have enough time to spend time with it but I don't know if I am going to go in the team or not yet. Anyway I don't want a mean aggressive bird as a pet. Also are senegal parrots independent or do they need A LOT of attention? :senegal:

If you don't think that you will have enough time to spend with it, don't get it as it will not be happy and neither will you.

Yes, they need four hours of out-of-cage time and one hour of one-on-one but these have to be in the middle of the day and not at night so if you are going to be in school for 8 hours, have extra-curricular activities and need to do homework and study, you won't have enough time for it - and senegals get VERY bitey when unhappy so, if I were you, I would consider getting a pair of cockatiels instead.

Although we often say one hour of one on one time and four hours of free out of cage time, these need to be understood for what they are, minimum amounts of time. The truth of the matter is, if you ask the parrot, much different and it works out to 24/7 for each and every one of them. That is what they were designed for and that is all they want. They really are not greedy.
