Looking for a cape weanling...!

Postby fishbait » Wed Jan 04, 2012 10:05 am

I am scouring the web far and wide in search of a cape weanling. This planned parrothood wait is really tough!!! I am on some waiting lists for a cape baby but hoped to gain insight on any possible reputable breeders i have not found on my search. I want a hand fed baby that has been socialized as part of the weaning process and one that is fully fledged (not sure i want to clip his/her wings yet as i have read they might have esteem issues).

We bought a huge crib, er i mean cage, last week and are now toy hunting and looking at building a cool play gym etc.!! I cannot believe i am so obssessed over this species!!

What part of the country are you in? Essentially there are only three major Cape Parrot breeders in the US: Scott, Eb, and Jean. Some breeders are too incompetent to raise a parrot without clipping it so make very very clear that you will not buy a clipped baby. And finally, be patient. It may take a while. Most likely you'll have to wait till summer to get yours. I started my search around November and didn't get mine in till June.
