handfeeding new born cockatiels

Postby rosella » Mon Jan 30, 2012 6:38 pm

hi everyone,
there is an ad for someone who has 10 fertile cockatiel eggs for sale and im thinking of getting a couple and putting them in an incubator and handfeeding from the start is this a good idea? is it do-able? how often would i have to feed and for how many days? i plan to feed with a spoon as opposed to the crop needles because i feel that it is easier for a bird and safer.
what is everyones thoughts?
thanks

p.s if i don't get them, unless no one else does they will be tossed by the breeder because his pair is already feeding the prior clutch so the breeder has no other options...this is not by personal choice

Hi if you are not experienced with hand feeding newborn birds then it would be very dangerous to do

I don't touch my babies until they are a week old. They are just too small to handle.
