bearded barbets hopping or flying

Postby SABreeder » Thu Feb 16, 2012 10:21 am

Hi guys!

I am soon receiving my first breeder pair of bearded barbets, and I am setting up their aviary, as I am in South Africa they are housed outdoors all year round.
What I am wondering is if these are predominantly hopping birds, like toucans, or flying?
I need to know this when setting up their aviary. The aviary is 1.8 m long, 1.8 m wide and 2 m high. It will have one open area and one more bushy one, where they can hide etc.

Experience: breeding several parrots, including the bigger macaws and cockatoos.
