Thanks for all of the support and input guys. After alot of time and deliberation, along with research i ended up getting another tiel. There were alot of factors in why i got a teal rather than a poi. for one, i feel like i can give a tiel more care and attention because i know what im doing and they are very laid back from my experience. i went to a birdfair today and just fell in love with this tiel. it was so friendly! much more so than ive experienced before. the breeder must spend a lot of time with his birds to keep them so tame. hes 4 months old and a white-face grey. i was holding him and he was just loving the attention i was giving him and i just had to have him. I wasnt expecting to see many poi at the fair because it doesnt go after a typical breeding season but there were 4 senagals there. non of them clicked with me. i looked at all of the birds there but this tiel was the only one that i really felt anything for.
From what it sounds like from the research ive done, most poi have similar personalities over all and one species doesnt seem more relaxed than the other. It seems much more of an individual personality rather than a species personality. Im sure theres some difference in the species on average but from all of the testimonies ive seen, they overlap alot. i took in your sudgestions though and i looked up the brown and several others and think they will be great birds to have, just when i have more time and a larger budget on my hands.
so i now have a new problem: naming. ive gone through quite a few names so far and these are my favorites.
Artie, short for Artimis which would work well if i want to get him DNA sex'd and he turns out to be a she.
Teal'c from SG1, (it would be hilarious

also im a nerd

)
Yuki, japanese for snow, also good for both male and female, though i think its better for female
Sam, short and sweet and works for both genders
there are others that i forgot on my way home lol, so far im really liking Artie and Teal'c but the others are nice in their own way.
I think ill get a poi later on, just not yet, though if i end up marrying my GF (extremely likely, just need the money for the ring... sigh... money...) then i suppose i will definately have one. Her's

.
